New Super Eagles Technical Adviser Rejects Offer

Newly appointed Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Frenchman Paul Le Guen, has reportedly rejected the offer made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
It was gathered that the 52-year-old rejected the offer because the NFF failed to meet his terms and conditions.
Le Guen, who was yesterday named by Technical and Development Committee of the NFF is expected to lead the Super Eagles qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup, against Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.
On Tuesday, a section of the French media announced that Le Guen would not be taking up the offer.
Also confirming the announcement in a statement, the chairman of the NFF’s executive committee, Barrister Christopher Green, said:
“The announcement made on Monday (by the NFF’s technical committee) was quite clear. Le Guen was offered the job subject to contract terms being agreed.
“We had to look at the best interest of the country before offering anyone the job (to manage the Super Eagles) and one of such conditions was that the new technical adviser would reside in Nigeria.
“A situation where Nigeria will be the loser will never be accommodated by the NFF.
“We want a coach who will not just take the Super Eagles to the next level but will develop Nigerian football as a whole and if he does not reside in Nigeria, it may not be feasible.”
Le Guen led the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals. As a player he stared for Brest, Nantes and Paris Saint Germain and won 17 caps for France. He later coached Rennes, Lyon, PSG (in France) and Glasgow Rangers (in Scotland). He has also managed Oman.
