Businessman and socialite Obafemi Olopade has passed on after celebrating his 95th birthday in July.
Media mogul Dele Momodu announced Mr Olopade’s death in an Instagram post on Friday. Details remained sketchy.
“Chief Jonathan Adio Obafemi Olopade has passed on at 95. He was a man of style till the very end. He danced so much when he celebrated his last birthday at The Metropolitan Club, on Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, on July 31, 2021,” he wrote.
Momodu added that he last saw Olopade at the residence of another socialite Oyekunle Alex-Duduyemi. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and John West were also Olopade’s close friends.
Olopade, a structural engineer by training, ran a chain of business ventures. He was known for his energy despite advancement in age.
The father of 15 launched a book Yoruba for Every Season and Citizen when he turned 90.
