The Oodua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) has faulted the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose on the reported meeting between the Presidency and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, The Pan Yoruba group said there is nothing wrong in a meeting aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the problem at hand.
ONAC said it regreted that Mr Fayose has been fuelling slogans of war and bloodshed when he has practically nothing to defend the helpless Ekiti people in the face of any possible attack from the Fulani herdsmen.
“We oppose the violent activities of some herdsmen. But we oppose attempts by Mr Fayose to hide under his new found Yoruba nationalism to draw attention from his own horrendous past and his flirtaton with elements completely opposed to Yoruba freedom and liberty,” ONAC stated.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the group’s Coordinator in Ekiti State Akin Omotoyinbo, ONAC said the meeting between the Presidency as represented by Senator Babafemi Ojudu was aimed at finding a solution to the menace of the Fulani herdmen across the country including Ekiti State. “As a patriot, what Senator Ojudu did was right.
He was concerned about violence in his home state and he invited one of the parties to find out the allegations that the association was planning to attack Ekiti people.
It was a good thing that the Miyetti Allah committed themselves to peace after the meeting.
“It is expected that when two parties are in dispute, dialogue is the first option.Fayose distorted the purpose of the meeting in the most irresponsible manner through outright lies unexpected of a state governor.
In a democracy, we should never oppose meaningful dialogue. Mr Fayose has deliberately distorted the substance of the meeting to suit his own political calculation which is to whip up euphoria and cheap populism.
ONAC said further “It appears Mr Fayose wants to use every opportunity to play politics with the lives of the people.
He has made a law which we support but his utterances indicate that he made the law not out of conviction to protect Ekiti people but rather to use it as an insulator against the crimes he continuously commits against Ekiti and the entire Yoruba nation.
“It is suspicious how Mr Fayose under whose nose Dr Ayo Daramola and Tunde Omojola were murdered suddenly wants to emerge as the champion of the Yoruba cause. We shall never forget his utterances when the former Deputy Yoruba leader, Chief Bola Ige was gruesomely killed.” ONAC said
The group noted that apart from the gruesome murder of these innocent souls, Mr Fayose brought armed Niger-Delta militants and armed soldiers to Ekiti state during the June 21 election to kill, maim and humiliate his own people.
His government till date has failed to account for over 2billion poultry funds which he embezzled during his first coming not to talk of his personal ethics and family values which completely negate the norms and teadition of the Yoruba people.
ONAC said Mr Fayose is desperate to cover up the track of justice against a string of crimes history had listed in his name. In this bid, his greatest weapon is to fan Yoruba sentiments when in actual fact he remains one of the most notorious enemies of the Yoruba people.
ONAC said the guards set up by Mr Fayose to fight grazing have themselves been turned into hunters of perceived political enemies given three instances this week when the men attacked two innocent women at the Erekeson market for adorning APC T-shirts.
ONAC said Mr Fayose is like Hitler.
“He wants the herdsmen to attack and kill Ekiti people. He is anxious to see this happen so that he can seek relevance as Yoruba apostle and further shift attention from his bankrupt and inept leadership.
“He must have been disappointed that peace efforts were initiated by another Ekiti indigene.”
Whatever any hidden agenda from Fayose, Ekiti people will disappoint him. It is better for Fayose to remain faithful with Ekiti as for him to end up well
