Oshiomhole Emerges APC National Chairman

19 Others Elected At APC Convention

The former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, was on Saturday affirmed as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The 66-year-old was the sole candidate for the position.

His challenger, Clement Ebri, withdrew from the race less than 72 hours to the convention.

Seventeen candidates for different positions were also affirmed unopposed by delegates at the national convention of the party in Abuja.

Delegates will vote to elect candidates for the remaining 42 positions.

The names of each of the unopposed candidates were called out by the chairman of the national convention committee, Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa State, while the delegates in affirmation chorused “yes”.
Oshiomhole was the first candidate to be so affirmed.

He takes over as APC chairman from another former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo attended the convention.
