The PDP yesterday lost another seat at the Senate following the defection of the chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator John Enoh (PDP, C/River Central), who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Enoh announced his defection during yesterday’s plenary chaired by the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.
With his defection, PDP’s seats at the Senate have nosedived to 41 while those for the APC have swelled to 67.
The seat for Anambra Central Senatorial District is still vacant.
Enoh’s defection created a rowdy session during the plenary as PDP senators chanted ‘go,’ (referring to Enoh) at a time their colleagues in the APC rose from their seats to receive him to their fold.
Raising a point of order, Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP, Taraba), described Enoh as “a political tourist,” saying, “By the time the bubble bursts, they (defectors) would be back and I want to assure you that we are ready to receive you.”
However, Saraki ruled Bwacha out of order and welcomed Enoh into the APC.
