In continuation of the plan of the new leadership of the police to improve the general well-being of Police personnel across board, the wife of the Inspector-General of Police and Police Officer’s Wives Association (POWA) president, Hajiya Hajara Usman Alkali Baba today Saturday 30th May, 2021, initiated monthly health walk for wives of Police personnel, when she led the members of POWA in Lagos State on a road walk from Alexander Road Ikoyi through the Lekki/Ikoyi Link Bridge, Lagos State.
The number one Police wife, while addressing the POWA members and some senior officers that participated in the walk, including the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, admonished Police personnel and their wives to regularly embark on physical exercises that will improve their health condition in order to be more active and productive in the force.
She urged POWA members and officers of the command to organise such health walk on every first Saturday of the month. In the process, the POWA President, Hajiya Hajara Usman Alkali Baba, seized the opportunity to present some gift items to members of the association, who are widows, to appreciate them for their commitment and steadfastness in the course of promoting oneness, unity and progress amongst the association and the Nigeria Police Force in general.
In the same vein, the POWA President visited the Obalende Barracks where she launched monthly sanitation in all police barracks across the country. She urged Police wives to embrace the initiative which is geared towards promoting cleanliness and sanity in police barracks. The wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Hajiya Hajara Usman Alkali Baba pronounced that the sanitation exercise should come up on every first and last Saturday of the month; and should be continuous.
The POWA President, Hajiya Hajara Usman Alkali Baba also visited the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu and wife at the Lagos House, Marina Lagos today 29th May, 2021 where she made some demands on behalf of the association and the entire Police Force, out of which some were granted by Mr Governor especially the construction and establishment of a Police Secondary School Lagos State.
The POWA President therefore applauded the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, for his love for the association and the wives of all Police personnel in Lagos State as she pleaded for more supports from the Commissioner of Police and their husbands in the command.
