In an interview with LEADERSHIP Friday last night, the federal lawmaker categorically denied the information being bandied around, claiming that the electoral umpire had reach out to him on the recall move and had also set date for the verification of signatures of his constituents submitted to INEC two days ago.
“I have not receive anything from INEC,” Melaye said in a phone interview with our reporter.
LEADERSHIP Friday recall that Melaye, while reacting to the Wednesday’s submission of his planned recall signatures to the INEC headquarters in Abuja, said the move was a hoax and comedy of errors orchestrated by the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.
He added that the exercise cannot succeed and he remain unfazed, adding that the people behind it will surely go to jail for act of forgery.
“It can not succeed. It is a hoax and absolute comedy of errors. I’m laughing at the stupidity of Kogi State government. Many appointees will go to jail for forgery. Even dead people’s names are on the recall register.
“A governor who does not know what double registration is may not as well know the procedure for recall. Every lie has an expiry date. This comedy of errors will soon end. No shaking at all,” Melaye said.
The outspoken federal lawmaker noted that the recall move
“won’t solve the problem of not paying salaries for over 15 months. No retreat no surrender. Truth is my only Defence.”
