Sokoto moves to cut maternal/child mortality by 1m

About 1 million beneficiaries have been targeted for a project aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality in Sokoto state
The project – Strength Health Outcomes for Women and children, SHOW in Sokoto, was aimed at reaching 318,000 women, 59,000 female adolescent, 248,000 children under the age of five years and 294,000 men as direct beneficiaries.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ Monitoring and Evaluation workshop organized by Plan International Nigeria, Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal said the project would also directly support 2,440 community health workers, 488 primary health workers and 184 village savings and loans associations through capacity building, community engagement and other activities.
“The overall goal is to contribute to the reduction of maternal and child mortality in Sokoto state,” he stated.
