Sulaiman Afegbua: Police Arrest Suspected Killers of Ex-council Boss

Edo State Police Command said it has arrested some Fulani herdsmen suspected to have killed the immediate past Chairman of Estako East local government area of the state, Suleiman Afegbua.

The former council boss was killed along the Benin-Auchi road on March 15 and he has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Also arrested were members of a gang that killed a business woman, Patience Ediri Omo-Osagie, after robbing her of N150,000 last week.

The same gang also killed one Pastor Godwin Akpoguenabor on same day.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, who paraded the suspects alongside 45 others, described them as serial killers who were released from prison last month.
Suspects arrested in connection to the killing of Afegbua are Mustapha Ramat, Boni Sale and Adamu Ado Bayero.

Gwandu said two of their victims who were kidnapped along the Benin-Auchi highway were rescued.

Names of the suspects allegedly responsible for the killings of Pastor Godwin and Mrs. Patience were given as Ugo Chukwu Sunday, Emmanuel Eguavoen, and Chinedu Ukwandu.

The police Commissioner said police had identified the three killers of the Imam of Egbeta Mosque, Saka Afolabi, in Ovia North East local government.

He said the Imam was killed over what he termed a minor quarrel, adding that the police was on the trail of the suspects.
