There Was A King: The Difference Between Ado Bayero and Mohammadu Sanusi Is Very Clear

Talking of Emirs, Kano has not had an Emir with charisma, public appeal and respect like late Ado Bayero. He was almost invisible to public and hardly ever heard of. When he speaks, Kano listens. Ado Bayero was throughout his reign apolitical. He has no party does not speak for or against politicians. He advised leaders in private without insulting or denigrating them in public.

As for Emir Sanusi, revelations by Jaafar Jafaar calls for prayers. The fiery journalist was not frivolous with his accusations. When I asked him about his second write up on the Emir he said he was trying to get the statement of accounts of Emirate Council to disprove the claim that the Rolls Royce were gifts from friends.

Well few days after, he got the statement and it was clear that the Emir lied.

The two cars were bought by the Emirates funds signed by Sanusi himself. The Emir spent N37m on data and voice calls. The Statement of accounts showed the payments made to Airtel for the amounts.

About the Emir’s lifestyle, the statement shows millions paid to travel agencies for trips abroad. The Emir travels on chartered planes locally.

Jaafar doesnt have to prove anything about the public conduct of Emir Sanusi. He is doing anything to ridicule and make the throne he occupies ordinary. Emirs are not ordinary. They are supposed to inspire mystics and awe by their appearance. They don’t drive themselves in public. They don’t appear everywhere and talking carelessly and gatecrashing and honouring all events.

The difference between Late Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi is very clear.

There was a King.
