Three youths have been feared dead on Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria as rival hoodlum groups clashed.
Th renewed clash was between social miscreants from Okesuna Street and their counterpart on Patey Street on Thursday.
One of the victims, nicknamed ‘Osingin’ who was alleged to have supported Okesuna Area boys against Patey boys was said to have been brutally attacked with Dane gun and cutlasses by Patey boys during the renewed clash.
Area boys from Patey and Okesuna had been at loggerhead over supremacy for for the past five years.
It was gathered that Osingin was with his friend in early hours of Thursday morning when the renewal clash ensued and while returning to his home in Oshodi, the Patey boys ambushed him, matcheted and shot him severally for being their enemies’ friend.
The information on his attack got to Salu Court and Oshodi boys quickly group themselves and rescued Osingin, but he later died at a private hospital around 6.00am while the doctor was removing bullets from his body.
“This news of his death, which spread like wildfire led to the reprisal attack by alien force comprising Oshodi, Okepopo and Salu court boys to invade Patey where they unleashed terror in the area”, a source revealed.
According to him, “It was during the reprisal attack that another two boys from Patey side were lynched to death and several others who were innocent residents’ sustained fatal injuries”.
But for the quick intervention of anti-riot policemen and military men, the situation could have become worse.
As at the time of filing this report, policemen and soldiers were seen patrolling the area, while a police source revealed that detectives had been sent out to arrest some of the rioters.
