As the elder statesman and Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Chief Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma clocks 80 years today, his kinsmen have described him as a towering personality and philanthropist with a heart of Gold.
The socio-cultural group under the aegis of Jukun Development Association of Nigeria (JDAN) in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos by its National President, Chief Benjamin Bako said, “Danjuma is one of the last generations of nationalists whose contributions to the nation’s development and Africa’s unity cannot be ignored.”
They hailed General Danjuma for his foresight, forthrightness and dedicated service to the nation both as a military top brass and a committed and strong advocate of democracy.
Bako said General Danjuma helped to build the Jukun race brand as a major cultural force in the country.
“His larger than life personality which traverses military, business and philanthropic initiatives have continued to reverberate across the length and breadth of Nigeria and the African continent,” he added.
