What Buhari Told Me About Lagos Theatre – Kunle Afolayan

Award-winning Film Producer/Director and Actor, Kunle Afolayan has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari was impressed with the Lagos Theatre Concept initiated by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode administration.

Afolayan who was personally introduced to Mr President by Governor Ambode at the unveiling of Lagos Theatre, Oregun on Wednesday told The Boss that the short encounter was very revealing.

According to him as soon as Governor Ambode introduced him as a Member of the Board of Lagos State Council of Arts & Culture, The President held his hands firmly, smiled and said “well done, good job”

The Lagos Theatre, Oregun is one of the six new Theatres being constructed by the art-loving governor of Lagos.

The Commissioning was attended by some members of the Federal Executive Council, presidential aides and State Governors; Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun State, Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State, Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo State, Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State, Phillip Shuaibu, Deputy Governor as well as the Governor-elect of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, his deputy, Mr Obafemi Hamzat and the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture Mr Steve Ayorinde.

According to Afolayan “the excitement for me is the fact that the creative industry especially Film and theatre now has 6 additional spaces that will enhance our creative need and support monetization”
